Labioplasty reduces the size or changes the shape of the small lips on the outside of the vagina (labia minora). It is a basic procedure designed to help women feel more confident about the way they look.
It is not uncommon for women to worry about the shape or size of their labia. Some women are born with large or irregular labia while others experience change after childbirth. It can result in discomfort and irritation when wearing tight clothing or playing sport or even embarrassment during sex.
Our consultants are highly skilled at providing a confidential and caring service, it is our priority to make you comfortable, so contact us for a no obligation assessment to discuss if labioplasty is right for you. Simply call 03 9569 3511 or contact us online.
How is labioplasty performed?
Labioplasty is usually performed under a light general anaesthetic, so patients feel no pain during the procedure and are able to return home the same day. Small incisions are made to remove excess tissue and reduce or reshape the labia minora, all stitches are dissolvable and dressings are not normally needed.
The clitoris is not affected by a labioplasty and there is no loss of sexual sensation, in fact, some women report an improvement in sensation and sexual function.
A single procedure is usually all that is required. As with any treatment at The Ashley Centre, you will be fully informed on all aspects of the procedure to ensure you are completely comfortable prior to treatment.
What can I expect during recovery?
You will return home the day of treatment and can expect to experience some discomfort in the first few days following surgery. We provide prescriptions for painkillers and antibiotics to minimise pain and prevent infection.
You will be able to resume normal light activities by the next day, however, we recommend you take 10 days off work and avoid intercourse until 30 to 45 days after treatment. Our professional surgical team will monitor your recovery through a number of post-operative check-ups and are available at anytime if you have questions or concerns.
How Much Does it Cost?
The cost of the procedure is highly individual and based on your unique needs and circumstances. At the Ashley Centre, we believe cost estimates should be based on a comprehensive understanding of your needs so there are no last minute surprises. Visit us at the Centre to discuss your needs and expectations (with no obligation to proceed), simply call us on 03 9569 3511 or contact us online to arrange an appointment.
